HEART OVER HARDNESS ☺️π
Yesterday evening, as the sun set and the cool breeze filled the air, I was sitting with my grandparents, enjoying the calm of the village. My grandmother, always full of wisdom, shared a saying that made me think deeply: "The teeth may fall, but the tongue remains."
At first, I wasn’t sure what she meant. But as she spoke, it became clear. Teeth are strong, and we rely on them to tackle life’s challenges, she said. They break down food, just like we use our strength to handle problems. But teeth can wear out, fall out, and weaken over time.
My grandfather nodded and added, Our teeth represent our youth and strength. They help us push through difficulties. But as we age, they can crack and fall. It’s not about staying strong all the time.
Then he pointed out the tongue, which is soft and flexible. The tongue, on the other hand, stays with us. It doesn’t break or fall out. It adapts and moves with ease, no matter what happens to the teeth.
As I listened, I realized this saying is about more than just teeth and tongues. It’s a reminder that while we may lose our physical strength and energy over time, what really matters is how we handle life with resilience and flexibility, just like the tongue. Even as we age and face challenges, it’s our ability to stay adaptable, like the tongue, that helps us continue through life. So, even if our “teeth” might fall out—our strength and vitality—our “tongue,” our heart and character, can remain strong and flexible.
And now my grandparents wisdom shows us that real strength isn’t just about being tough. While we may lose some of our physical strength as we age, our true power comes from how well we adapt and stay resilient. Just like the tongue remains when the teeth fall away, our heart and character can stay strong and flexible through life’s changes. Embracing this idea helps us handle challenges with grace, knowing that lasting strength comes from being adaptable and enduring.
